Protect Bathtub & Shower Metal Drain Trim From Damage By Muriatic Acid
Muriatic acid will damage the metal drain trim around a bathtub or shower drain. When I use muriatic acid (hydrochloric acid) to remove hard water stains from a bathtub or shower pan, I use plumber's putty tape to protect the metal drain trim from damage by muriatic acid.

    Did I miss something. Did you actually resolve the gap in the door? A good video, but I'm not sure that it was clearly explained how you resolved the gap problem, for example to fix the gap at the upper part of the door do you adjust the screw anti-clockwise or clockwise, you didn't say.

    Thank you for doing this video! Just wondering - when would I replace the cables as well in addition to the electrodes? Excellent video!! Do you know the purpose of the 3 solder pads at the bottom edge of the circuit board labeld TX, RX and GND? I suspect they're for measuring the voltage supplied to the valve pins. Can you make one for when the problem is the gas valve and how to repair/replace it, or would there be liability issues?

    Excellent video! One question if you don't mind? How far below the starter strip does the bottom of the first plank reside? I read that you need to have the first plank a bit lower than the starter stip so when water runs down to the bottom plank it doesn't go back hind it, but no one says how much lower it should be?

    Last year I had a guy from a neighborhood plumbing Co. deliberately glue the hot-water Trim Cap on, with e6000, after putting on new hot water washer. Recently another plumber came this past Friday telling me this and wanted to know who did this, he asked my permission to try to get it off or perhaps break it off. Prior before these two visits, this company came, wanted to get into my closet where all the plumbing pipes are for a costly rebuild when I only need new washer and valve seat. I told him to forget about it and just paid for the coming out service fee, going to look for someone else. How do I get this Trim Cap off?

    I have spent hours and hours trying to find troubleshooting information for my State water heater. Your video is so amazing and I am sending it to all my children and anyone else I can think of. Last September I spent $170 for 15 minutes of service to a couple of (young) plumbers who told me that there were no error codes, and the pilot light works just fine - lights up fine and this was information that I already knew. My husband and I were told that gusts of wind coming down the exhaust pipe (if that's what you call it) were putting out the flame. No troubleshooting was done at all. The problem continued. So periodically, I climb up into the attic and relight the water heater. It has been staying lit for a couple months at a time but now is going out weekly. My husband is getting antsy and does not trust my DIY skills. I may have to call out a plumber, but thanks to you I know more about water heaters and hope I can find a troubleshooting plumber.

    • @frugaldiy1
      @frugaldiy1 13 днів тому

      Hey Terri. Yes, wind coming down the flue/exhaust pipe can cause the flame to extinguish. But, that's rarely the case re the issue you're having. Some plumbers, who are not ethical, don't want to troubleshoot the issue; they want to replace stuff that doesn't need replacing and charge you a boatload of money. Hence, that why I fix stuff myself. I learn as I go, and you can too. Please tell your husband that Frugal DIY (me) is asking that he PLEASE stand down and let you give a go at fixing the issue. I know that you can, and I have no doubt about that. Girl, get yourself a multimeter, just like mine (Harbor Freight $6.99) and troubleshoot the issue. I'm in my 60s, and have to crawl up in the attic tomorrow to replace the belt on my whole house fan, and I'm happy to do that so I can fix it myself and save boatloads of money. You've got this and can fix the water heater all by yourself. My guess is the thermopile is weak and giving way (here's the link to my video re how to change a thermopile: ua-cam.com/video/httzdihCxvM/v-deo.html) or, most likely, it's the control board faulty. Get to fixin' now--ya hear?
